gilded mahogany Armchair
A beautiful antique Mahogany parlor armchair, with gold leaf gilded accents that showcase the carved Romanesque bust on the crest rail. Chair dates to circa 1870-1890, with restored woodwork and newly upholstered in 8-way hand-tied steel coil springs, cotton, wool and Full Grain US cowhide. The leather is hand-rubbed in the sauvage technique giving the nuanced brown hues a three dimensional look and luxurious softness. Matching dome nails add definition to the interesting lines.
