This elegant leather sofa is distinctly representative of late American Empire, showcasing an abundance of ornately carved, richly-hued mahogany. The high, gently curved arms display symmetric cornucopias, providing comfortably cushioned arm rests that cradle matching bolsters. A finely reeded concave crown adds additional complexity to the sofa’s traditional lines. Beautifully carved lion’s paw feet at all four corners punctuate the period styling. It is completely finished in clear varnish, allowing the natural luster of the wood to shine as warmly as it’s premium leather upholstering which is entirely attached with matching brass dome studs. This sofa’s seating is constructed of entirely new interior materials, with meticulously joined 8-way hand-tied coil springs finished in a bench seat style, and boasts no seams front or back. The leather upholstering is finished in the “sauvage” technique, giving it excellent wear resistance, and perfectly completes this gorgeous restoration.
Sofa measures 87" x 27" x 32", and weighs approximately 110 lbs.
