REGENCY BACKLESS SETTEE
Our own creation. Sit or recline on our Backless Settee with design elements influenced by those common to the Regency period of the early 19th Century. Often supported by squat, fluted turned legs with casters, our frame’s rectangular foundation is based on four vase-shaped turned legs, stretched to fit modern seat heights. We also chose to overstuff traditional “S” scrolled arms for extra comfort. Staying with Earth tones, light brown Top Grain Leather tops an 8-way hand-tied steel coil spring bed, and modern, high-density seating foam thankfully replaces traditional horse hair. Metallic, bejeweled flower medallions adorn the natural trim at key locations replacing more usual hand-carved or gilded on-lays. Matching dome nails and a clear satin hand-rubbed finish pull the natural color palette together, allowing the harmony of natural tones to dominate. Interior construction and exposed trims are all 100% Red Oak, sustainably sourced from our own Wilmington Delaware property. This piece makes a solid, modern statement of quality and tradition, and will enhance almost limitless in-home settings to include: in front of or in groupings around a fireplace (pictured), parlor, entry way, under a window, at the foot of a bed or in a dressing room. Settee measures 67”x19”d x33”h, has a comfortable 22” seat height, and weighs approximately 35 lbs.
